Exam Overview
The JEE Main examination will offer three separate papers: Paper 1, Paper 2A, and Paper 2B. Paper 1 is designated for candidates aspiring to enrol in BE/BTech programs. Paper 2A is tailored for students pursuing a B. Arch degree, while Paper 2B caters to those aiming for a B. Planning course. The comprehensive structure of the JEE Main 2025 examination for all three papers is detailed below.
Exam Pattern
Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech. Programs)
The exam will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), covering three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The questions will be of two types:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Numerical Value Answer (NAV) type questions
The exam will consist of a total of 75 questions, divided equally across the three subjects. Each subject will have 20 MCQs and 5 NAV-type questions. The duration of the exam is 3 hours, providing candidates adequate time to attempt all questions. The marking scheme awards 4 marks for every correct answer, while 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.
Paper 2A (B.Arch. Programs)
The JEE Main 2025 Exam for BArch (Paper 2A) will also be conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), except for the drawing section, which will require candidates to answer manually. The test covers three key subjects: Mathematics, General Aptitude, and Drawing.
The question paper will consist of 77 questions in total. Mathematics will include 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 5 Numerical Value Answer (NAV) type questions, while General Aptitude will comprise 50 MCQs. Additionally, the drawing section will have 2 questions designed to assess the candidate's drawing skills. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours. The marking scheme awards 4 marks for each correct answer, with a deduction of 1 mark for every incorrect response.
Paper 2B (B. Planning Programs)
The JEE Main 2025 Exam for B. Plan. will also be conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and will cover three subjects: Mathematics, General Aptitude, and Planning.
The exam comprises a total of 100 questions. Mathematics includes 30 questions, divided into 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 5 Numerical Value Answer (NAV) type questions. General Aptitude consists of 50 MCQs, while the Planning section includes 25 MCQs. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. The marking scheme awards 4 marks for each correct answer, with a penalty of 1 mark for each incorrect response.

Marking Scheme
The marking scheme for all three papers of JEE Main 2025—Paper 1 (BTech), Paper 2A (BArch), and Paper 2B (B. Plan.)—is the same. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer, while 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.
